Osteoclastoma of the orbit. Case report.

چکیده
TUMOURS characterized by the presence of giant cells are not uncommonly seen in sections from orbital masses. The histologic appearance of osteoclastoma as first described by N6laton (1860) is of tumours consisting essentially of spindle cells, round cells, and multinucleated giant cells with an abundance of nuclei. It is a rare tumour, which until recently had not been differentiated from other fibrous tumours of bone, and usually occurs at the ends of long bones, although a few have been reported in the orbit and in the region of the sphenoid and the labyrinth. This paper reports a case of osteoclastoma of the orbit.

A Rare Penetrating Trauma of Both Orbit and Nasal Cavity
Introduction: Diagnosis of orbital foreign body (FB) penetration is usually obvious when part of the FB is still attached at the entry wound (1). However, the depth and course of the FB in this case was not visible. Case Report: A 5-year old female presented with a pencil penetrating the left orbit. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed that the pencil penetrated the left orbit (extraseptal)...
متن کاملAggressive Osteoclastoma of Sphenoid Sinus: A Rare Surgical Case Report
The giant cell tumor (GCT) or osteoclastoma is considered to be a locally aggressive benign tumor. The GCTs of the cranium represent only 1% of all GCTs and preferentially affect the sphenoid and temporal bones. We report a case of an 18-year-old male who presented with headache and diplopia. Radiological investigation shows a destructive midline mass involving the body of the sphenoid. The tum...

We describe the case of a 35 years old man with a nonspecific complaint of a slow growing solid mass in the frontal region. Treated with total excision of the lesions and a cranioplastic procedure at the same act, with favorable outcome. Microscopic findings suggested giant cell tumor in the three le...
